Just across the
street from Beland Manor Inn are the peaceful grounds of the
St.
Scholastica Monastery. the
grounds of St. Scholastic are filled with trees, wild flowers,
a small lake and gazebo, and are perfect for walking or exercising.
Creekmore
Park |
A short drive down Rogers Avenue is Creekmore
Park, Fort Smith's finest green space. Creekmore Park
has an organized walking / exercise trail, and just across
the street is Fort Smith's new multi - million dollar Public
Library.
Less than a mile
away is Fort Smith's largest shopping mall, and many specialty
shops, all within walking distance.
A fifteen minute
drive away is Historic
Downtown Van Buren, with its picturesque Victorian Main
Street, and a collection of fascinating shops.
Two miles to the
west is where the Wild, Wild West begins in Downtown Fort
Smith. From Fort Smith's most unusual official visitor center,
"Miss
Laura's," (a former Bordello!), to the local museums,
including the Trolley
Museum, antique shops, and architectural restorations,
including the Belle Grove Historic District,
and of course, the National Historic site for the Isaac Parker
"Hangin' Judge" courtroom.
